About the Journal

The Journal of East Central European Studies (JECES) is a leading scholarly journal for historical studies on East Central Europe. The journal is edited at Herder Institute for Historical Research on East Central Europe - Institute of the Leibniz Association, Marburg, by an international editorial board of renowned scholars. JECES is published in print and as open access. It publishes original articles on the history and culture of Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Ukraine, and Belarus, as well as innovative approaches to the methodology and conceptualization of the history of East Central Europe as a whole.

JECES publishes essays and book reviews quarterly in German and English. All manuscripts submitted for publication undergo a double-blind peer review.
